A new generation of FORMULA ONE video games featuring Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and all the official drivers, teams and circuits from the 2009 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP was announced today by Codemasters, the developer and publisher of award-winning racing video games, under its exclusive worldwide agreement with Formula One Administration Limited.

The first title in the series, F1 2009, will debut on Wii and PSP (PlayStationPortable) system this autumn. F1 2009 will deliver an authentic and accessible recreation of the current FORMULA ONE season, including, for the first time in a FORMULA ONE title, the stunning Singapore night race.

Talking about the partnership with Codemasters, Bernie Ecclestone, CEO Formula One Management Limited, commented: “Codemasters has a great heritage when it comes to racing games and their reputation is second to none. We’re working very closely together on the upcoming FORMULA ONE titles and are very impressed with what we have seen.”

Juiced 2 Review

Juiced 2 is a really impressive looking racer. The 3D work is well done, the cars are realistic looking, and the tracks are detailed and varied enough that it gives the game that international tour feel it's going for. Unfortunately it's just a standard racer, occasionally delving into the ho-hum realm with its limited opponents and short courses. The multicard only multiplayer hurts the game's appeal. There are certainly worse racers for the system, and Juiced 2 manages to pull ahead of them, but it's certainly not finishing first.

The game was the first Game Boy game compatible with the four-way multiplayer adaptor, which brought gaming with friends on the move forward in leaps and bounds. Just a glance at the screens for Sony's Formula 1 on the PSP makes you realise how far gaming has come, and a 2D LCD display seems a far cry from the genuinely 3D, gorgeous racing action that fills the PSP's wide screen.
